What is a Varnish?

Traditionally a combination of drying oil, resin, and a thinner or solvent, Varnish is a transparent liquid which dries to form a hard, protective film.

This was excellent for my purposes, but I wasn't using it on proper artwork (just on colour printed images on standard paper from a normal printer, to protect them whilst being used in modelling).

High quality matt varnish. I was nervous about how it would look but it gave an even very matt surface to my paintings. I do think that it has slightly changed the colour of my painting in a couple of places, bringing out the luminous quality of a couple of objects that were painted white with thin layers of blue over them. I think the varnish has brought out the white a bit. But this is very slight.

Whilst being quite difficult to get hold of at a great price the product itself is fantastic. I use this matt varnish for military figures and you really do get a flat matt finish. Excellent product.

I use this varnish on models of different hard materials which are covered in acrylic paint. This is a low odour product that gives a strong matt finish, no trace of false colour and a quick drying time.

Don’t use anything else, the product is superb as usual. I have used this on my painted miniatures for two years now, brilliant. I normally spray and then dry with hair dryer.

Brilliant, won’t use any other. I use it to Matt down my miniatures as they are painted in oils. Used other products, will only use Winsor & Newton Professional Matt spray now.

Really good. I'm actually using this for spray varnishing miniatures. Goes on smoothly leaves a nice finish.
