For many artists worldwide the Liquitex brand is synonymous with innovation and premium quality. They were the first to manufacture water-based acrylics in 1955 and ever since have aspired to produce artist materials that not only satisfy, but stretch the creativity of artist’s imaginations. The Liquitex name is an abbreviated combination of the words ‘liquid’ and ‘texture’, intended to capture the essence of the acrylic medium and the fact that it can go from fluid liquidity to heavy texture, and everywhere else in between. Liquitex paints, mediums, and tools are developed as a complete system to work on virtually all porous surfaces. Because of this, artists can create an unlimited range of special effects: from thick sculptural applications to thin watercolours and everything in-between.

Liquitex MediumsMediums

Liquitex offers the broadest range of acrylic mediums to inspire creativity at every stage of the painting process. Acrylic mediums are often a difficult concept to grasp until you actually dive into them, but usage can be classified into three distinct categories: Prep, Paint, and Finish.

Surface preparations set the foundation for stable and permanent colour applications by sealing and adding tooth to almost any painting surface. Prep acrylic mediums accommodate all types of work and do not crack or yellow over time.

Within the Paint category, there are several different types medium you can use besides the colour itself to really explore your creativity. These include Fluid Mediums, Gel Mediums and an array of Effects Mediums and texture gels. These allow the artist to adjust the working and optical properties of the paint film to accomplish astonishing variety.

Once your work is complete, you’ll want to protect it with a Finish to ensure it stands the test of time. Varnishes are applied over a completed piece of work to change or unify the surface sheen and protect the painted surface from the effects of the environment and ultraviolet light.

All Liquitex mediums are permanent, PH neutral and water resistant when dry, non-yellowing and non-cracking, flexible and formulated for long-term durability. They are ideal for improving adhesion and are manufactured with the best quality resins available.
