Liquitex Soft Body: The Original Acrylic, Redesigned

Liquitex Professional Soft Body acrylic is low viscosity acrylic paint that gives excellent coverage, a satin finish and high levels of artist-quality pigment for archival brilliance. It’s incredibly versatile. Use it to paint, pour, glaze or print on almost any surface. Soft Body has been redesigned by artists, for artists, with a new shape, new nozzle and new functionality.

The Formula

If you thought Soft Body was just a watered-down Heavy Body, you’d be wrong. The flowing low viscosity formula of Liquitex Soft Body was in fact created first and actually gives triple the coverage area of Heavy Body. The two paints have compatible binders and pack the same high pigment load.

If you thin Heavy Body with water or mediums, you reduce concentration and get noticeably weaker colours. Paint feel, performance and stability are also impacted, so choose the right consistency of paint for the job.

A Brand New Design

When you’re working, your tools need to work for you. The brand new ergonomic bottle and clear labelling of the Soft Body range has been designed in collaboration with artists. It’s fully reusable and recyclable – and not a drop of paint will go to waste.

  • Stackable either way up
  • Squeezable body
  • Easy-open and close lid
  • Screw-off top
  • Extra-wide neck for easy access
  • No shoulder or corners to trap paint
  • Tapered nozzle with a choice of cut marks
  • Technical info all in one place

Versatility

If you had to choose one paint then this would be the one you’d get most out of. Soft Body suits a wide range of techniques and applications. It loves almost any surface and dries flexibly and quickly for easy layering and masking. Want something new? Use a professional medium to change its character further.

Surfaces

If it sticks to it, you can use it. You can use Soft Body on all manner of surfaces, including:

  • Stretched canvas
  • Photo paper
  • Plaster & brick
  • Clay & pottery
  • Paper & board
  • Wood, fabric & glass

Archival

On a client’s wall. In a gallery. Your work needs to stay as you intended. As with all Liquitex products, the pigments in Soft Body have passed extensive tests for lightfastness.

Each pigment is rated according to the American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM), and we only use pigments rated ASTM I or II*. This means your work will have the greatest archival permanence possible – at least 50 years+ in gallery conditions – with no colour shifting or fading, to stay vibrant and true.

*Some pigments, such as fluorescents, are not rated
