Fimo is high-quality polymer clay made by Staedtler, and is used for making many different things including jewellery, accessories, small trinkets and much more. Your imagination is the limit. Fimo comes in a standard block of 56g in a variety of 24 brilliant colours, plus several glittered and metallic colours.

They are smooth and soft in consistency and once opened they’re ready for moulding. By mixing two or more colours, then twisting, folding, bending, and cutting, you can create some unique marbling patterns. If multiple colours are mixed thoroughly enough, the marble effect will fade and the colours will blend to make a new colour.

Once shaped, Fimo is baked in a standard oven for about 30 minutes at 130 °C (265 °F) to harden. It can then be cut, drilled, painted, sanded, and sliced thinly. It is recommended once baked Fimo is painted with acrylic paints in order for the paint to dry completely.

Here are some of our festive decorative creations we’ve made. Remember, if you want these to hang on your tree pierce a hole near the top of your model before baking to ensure you have a gap to thread some string or ribbon through.

We’re keen to see all of your Fimo Christmas creations! Be sure to tag us in on social media or send us your makes to blog@cowlings.com.
