Video: Winsor & Newton Galeria Mediums

Winsor & Newton Galeria is a collection of mediums designed to enhance the creations of artists working with acrylic paint, such as
Winsor & Newton’s Galeria Acrylic Colour range. Providing a unique, removable glossy layer, Winsor & Newton’s Galeria Gloss Varnish offers the ultimate protection for acrylic artwork.

What is a Varnish?

Traditionally a combination of drying oil, resin, and a thinner or solvent, Varnish is a transparent liquid which dries to form a hard, protective film.

Why use a Varnish?

In addition to preserving artwork, and offering protection against dirt and dust, a varnish evens out the final appearance of the paint, ensuring a uniform finish.

Why choose Winsor & Newton Galeria Varnish Remover?

Galeria Varnish Remover is extremely versatile and suitable for a variety of techniques. It can be used on numerous surfaces and your equipment is easily cleaned with water after use. All Galeria varnishes are uniquely removable with Acrylic Varnish Remover, allowing your painting to be cleaned and re-varnished in the future.

How do I use a Varnish?

Allow the painting to dry for at least 24 hours before applying a thin coat of varnish. For optimum results, it is recommended that two coats of varnish are applied, leaving 24 hours drying time between coats. Do not use Galeria Gloss Varnish as a medium.

Further information and tips are provided in Winsor & Newton’s guide: All You Need To Know About Varnishing Paintings.
