Video: Winsor & Newton Galeria Mediums
Winsor & Newton Galeria is a collection of mediums designed to enhance the creations of artists working with acrylic paint, such as Winsor & Newton’s Galeria Acrylic Colour range. Providing a unique, removable matt layer, Winsor & Newton’s Galeria Matt Varnish offers the ultimate protection for acrylic artwork.
What is a Varnish?
Traditionally a combination of drying oil, resin, and a thinner or solvent, Varnish is a transparent liquid which dries to form a hard, protective film.
Why use a Varnish?
In addition to preserving artwork, and offering protection against dirt and dust, a varnish evens out the final appearance of the paint, ensuring a uniform finish.
Why choose Winsor & Newton Galeria Matt Varnish?
The choice of artists wishing to avoid any reflection from the surface of their artwork, Galeria Matt Varnish gives a smooth, flat finish to Acrylic Colour. It may also be mixed with Galeria Gloss Varnish, to vary the reflective properties of the veneer.
The following video gives a Comparison of Gloss and Matt Varnish.
How do I use a Varnish?
Allow the painting to dry for at least 24 hours before applying a thin coat of varnish. For optimum results, it is recommended that two coats of varnish are applied, leaving 24 hours drying time between coats. Do not use Galeria Matt Varnish as a medium or on absorbent surfaces.
