Video: Winsor & Newton Galeria Mediums
Winsor & Newton Galeria is a collection of mediums designed to enhance the creations of artists working with acrylic paint, such as Winsor & Newton’s Galeria Acrylic Colour range. Providing a unique, removable satin layer, Winsor & Newton’s Galeria Satin Varnish offers the ultimate protection for acrylic artwork.
What is a Varnish?
Traditionally a combination of drying oil, resin, and a thinner or solvent, Varnish is a transparent liquid which dries to form a hard, protective film.
Why use a Varnish?
In addition to preserving artwork, and offering protection against dirt and dust, a varnish evens out the final appearance of the paint, ensuring a uniform finish.
Why choose Winsor & Newton Galeria Satin Varnish?
Popular with artists wanting to balance the properties of gloss and matt effects, Galeria Satin Varnish gives a medium matt sheen, closely matching the natural finish of Acrylic Colour.
The following video shows how the finish of Satin Varnish compares to that of a Gloss Varnish:
How do I use a Varnish?
Allow the painting to dry for at least 24 hours before applying a thin coat of varnish. For optimum results, it is recommended that two coats of varnish are applied, leaving 24 hours drying time between coats. Do not use Galeria Satin Varnish as a medium or on absorbent surfaces.
